An issue with the scanner's performance (noisy data & lagging)

Symptoms

Scanning data receives significantly more noisy data than usual, and the scan speed is trailing.

Solution

Check the live view to see if the viewer screen shows water stains on the tip mirror. This can result in an excessive amount of noise data being generated, slowing down the scan speed. If that's the case, swap out the scanner tip for one that keeps the mirror clean and rescan to see if the problem goes away.
