Open Dental Integration

The Open Dental Integration app connects Medit Link and Open Dental software so that it passes over patient information to Medit Link. After installing this app, you can create a case in Medit Link with the patient information from Open Dental software and then scan using i500/i700.

💡 This app does not include the actual Open Dental program. Open Dental software must already be installed on your PC.

💡Required Open Dental version for the integration app: officially supporting Open Dental version 21.4.46

 

❏ Medit Link

1. Log in to your Medit Link account and go to the App Box.

2. Find the "Open Dental Integration" app and click on the "Install" button.

3. It may take up to several minutes to finish the installation process. Please do not turn off the PC until the installation is complete.

4. Click "OK" to complete the installation.

 

❏ Open Dental

After installing the app in Medit Link, configure the settings on Open Dental software as shown below:

1. Go to the "Setup" menu at the top, choose "Program Links" and click "Add."

2. On the Program Link dialog, check the "Enabled" tick box.

3. Verify the "Path of file to open."

• Typically, C:\Program Files\Medit\Medit Link\Medit Link\Medit_Link.exe

4. Verify the “Optional command line arguments.”

• If your Open Dental Software version is before v22.1,

• If your Open Dental Software version is v22.1 and after,

5. Set up a clickable bridge button.

• Under "Add a button to these toolbars", highlight where to display the button.
• Type "Medit Link" in the "Text on button."
• Optional) Import an image to show on the button. You can find the button image of Medit Link attached to this article at the bottom of the page. 

6. Click OK.

 

❏ User flow

1. Choose a patient in Open Dental software and click the Medit Link button.

2. Once Medit Link is launched, the chosen patient case will be automatically created.

3. The information from Open Dental to Medit Link is as follows:

• Patient Name
• Gender
• Birth Date
• Patient ID(* PatientID of Medit Link will be from Open Dental's PatNum.)
