Medit Link Express Features
Which scanner models are compatible with Medit Link Express?
Express iPad supports i900 Mobility.
Express Mac supports i900 Mobility, i900, and i900 classic.
What is the difference between Medit Link and Medit Link Express?
• On iPad, use the Express iPad app.
• On a laptop, use Medit Link or Express Mac.
Medit Link is a full-featured desktop platform that supports advanced workflows and various apps such as Model Builder, Splints, and Occlusion Analyzer. It is ideal for complex treatment planning, collaboration, and app-based design.
Medit Link Express, on the other hand, is a mobile-only app optimized for iPad. Designed for quick consultations and chairside scanning, it offers a simple and intuitive workflow without the need for special training. You can also share scan data with patients in real time during consultations.
Medit Express can only be used with Clinic - Administrator accounts.
What is the “Express Scan” feature in Medit Link Express?
Express Scan is a dedicated workflow optimized for speed and patient consultation. It allows scanning without creating a case(patient registration), making it ideal for first-time visits or quick consultations that require immediate scanning.
How it works:
- Uses optimized algorithms and data handling for faster scanning.
- After scanning, users can rotate, zoom, and review the scan data directly on the iPad with the patient.
This helps patients better understand their condition visually and improves acceptance of treatment plans.
⚠️ Caution
Express Scan is not intended for prosthetic fabrication due to its speed-focused optimization. If treatment proceeds, a precise scan for prosthetics should be performed using the standard workflow.
What is Cloud Processing, and when should I use it?
Cloud Processing is an option where scan data is processed on the Medit Cloud server instead of on your device (such as an iPad or Mac). Once selected, the scan data is automatically uploaded to the cloud, processed on the server, and the results are downloaded back to the iPad.
Benefits:
- Allows you to continue other tasks (e.g., preparing the next patient, reviewing other cases) while processing runs in the background.
Requirements:
A stable and fast Wi-Fi connection is recommended, as upload and download speeds depend on your network environment.
What workflows are available in Medit Link Express?
Medit Link Express currently provides three main workflows:
- Restoration
- Implant Scan
- Ortho Scan
These workflows are designed to cover the most common clinical needs while keeping the process quick and easy. More workflows and customization options will be added in the future based on user feedback.
What editing tools are available in Medit Link Express?
Medit Link Express focuses on a simple Scan & Send workflow and provides only essential features:
- Trimming
- Lock Area
- Undercut Analysis
- Manual Alignment
- Data Swap (Maxilla/Mandible Data Swap)
Complex editing tools are intentionally excluded to maintain a fast and intuitive experience.
Can STL files be exported directly from Medit Link Express?
No. STL export is only available via Medit Link on desktop after processing is completed. Scan data is automatically synced to Medit Cloud once processing is finished.
Can I add special requests during the ordering process?
Yes. A “Notes” section is available during the order process where you can include additional instructions or specific clinical requests.
What happens if the internet connection is lost during scanning?
Scanning can continue even if the internet disconnects.
The scan data is temporarily saved on the iPad and will automatically sync once the internet connection is restored.
What should I do if the scanner auto connection keeps failing?
Go to Settings > Scanner Settings and enable Advanced Network Search.
When enabled, the system searches for devices over a wider network range and attempts automatic connection.
⚠️ Caution
Enabling this option may increase network usage, so it is recommended to use it only when auto connection continues to fail.
Using Medit Link Express with Medit Link
How do Medit Link and Medit Link Express work together?
Medit Link Express is designed for quick, chairside scanning and patient consultations, while Medit Link supports advanced workflows, app-based design, and detailed editing. Both platforms share data through a single account, enabling flexible and efficient workflow management.

Yes. Cases and scans created in Medit Link Express are automatically synced with Medit Link. Both platforms use the same account, and case information and scan results can be viewed on either platform at any time.
⚠️Caution - Editing limitations
- Scans created in Medit Link (Scan for Clinics) can be viewed and ordered in Medit Link Express, but editing or additional scanning is not supported.
- Scan data generated in Medit Link Express can be edited or used for additional scanning in Medit Link (Scan for Clinics).
How long does data synchronization take between Medit Link and Medit Link Express?
Synchronization begins automatically after tapping “Processing” in Medit Link Express. The time required depends on your internet speed and overall network conditions.
Can I view patient information from Medit Link in Medit Link Express?

iPad & Mac
What are the recommended iPad specifications for Medit Link Express?
iPad: We recommend using the latest iPad Pro with an M4 chip (11-inch or 13-inch, 1TB or 2TB). Higher specifications provide better performance and long-term stability.
Mac: M3 or M4 (24 GB RAM) is recommended.
Can I scan while charging the iPad?
It is possible, but charging while scanning may cause heat build-up, which can affect performance. For best results, pre-charge the iPad before scanning.
Does low battery on the iPad affect performance?
Yes. A low battery may trigger iOS Low Power Mode, which can reduce performance.
For smooth scanning, it is recommended to fully charge the iPad before starting.
Can I mirror the iPad screen to a monitor?
Yes. Screen mirroring is available via AirPlay on compatible monitors or through a wired connection using an HDMI adapter.
Can a case scanned on Medit Link Express Mac be rescanned on iPad?
A case scanned on Mac can be rescanned on iPad.
However, if a large amount of scan data has been generated on Mac, rescanning may be limited.
In contrast, a case scanned on iPad can always be rescanned on Mac.
Can the scanner be connected using the iPad’s cellular function?
Yes. If you are using a cellular-enabled iPad model (LTE/5G or other mobile data supported), the scanner can be connected. You can use the iPad like a dedicated router and establish a 1:1 connection with the scanner. Please check the following settings.
Cellular Data: ON
Personal Hotspot: ON
(Menu name: “Allow Others to Join”)
Maximize Compatibility: OFF
⚠️ Caution
Before starting the setup, please ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on.
(When the hotspot is activated, Wi-Fi will be automatically disabled.)
If the “Maximize Compatibility” option is enabled, data transfer speed may decrease, so please make sure it is turned off.
If “Cellular” or “Personal Hotspot” does not appear in the Settings menu, your device is a Wi-Fi-only iPad model, and this connection method is not supported.
