Basic usage
You can measure distance, angle, length, area, etc on scan data to find out how much the teeth have been removed for preparation, the height of occlusion, or the length of teeth, etc.
Sections and measurement results that you created using the Measure feature will not be held after you exit from the feature. If you need to keep the measurement result, you can capture the screen using the Screenshot feature.
1. Enable the Measure feature in the Tools section.
2. After selecting the region of interest for the measurement, click Confirm to start the merging process.
3. Measure distance, angle, length, area, etc on the scan data using various command options.
Command options
create section line
- draws a line to create a section plane.
- You can draw multiple lines.
Section view
- orients the view perpendicular to the section line.
One point (distance)
- measures the shortest distance between a selected point and the nearest surface or section
Two points (distance)
- measures the distance between two points.
Three points (distance)
- measures the distance between the first point and the line connecting the other two points.
Three points (angle)
- calculates an angle between two lines formed by three points.
- Line 1 connects the first point and the second point.
- Line 2 connects the second point and the third point.
Four points (angle)
- calculates an angle between two lines formed by four points.
- Line 1 connects the first point and the second point.
- Line 2 connects the third point and the fourth point.
One point (area)
- calculates the area of a section plane chosen by one point.
⚠️ A section plane is required.
Two point (area)
- calculates the area closed by two points on a section plane.
⚠️ A section plane is required.
Measure 3D area
- calculates the area selected by selection tools.
One point (length)
- calculates the length of a selected line.
⚠️ A section plane is required.
Two points (length)
- calculates the length between two points on a selected line.
⚠️ A section plane is required.
Deviation
- calculates deviations between reference data and target data.
Confirm
- displays the calculated result using selected data.
Delete
- deletes a selected section line or measurement result.
Exit
- takes you to the previous step.
How to use the deviation feature
- The deviation feature is available when there are at least 2 different scan data.
- Enable the deviation() feature, select reference data and target data, and click Confirm.
- The deviations are shown through the color map. Click a specific position to read its deviation value.
- You can customize the index range by double-clicking the number: the maximum value of color data (1.000 ~ 50.000mm), the acceptable tolerance (0.001 ~ 9.000mm)
- The higher the resolution becomes, the more class the color range is divided into.
- Click Exit to end the "Deviation" mode and to return to the "Measure" mode.
Use cases
1. Compare the pre-op with the prepped tooth.
2. Measure the size of a tooth as well as the width of an arch.
3. Calculate an overjet for Ortho.
