The goal of retraction is to clear the way for proper scan data acquisition.
1. Adjust the backrest of the patient chair to get your patient close enough to scan the back teeth.
2. Form a hook with your index finger and tightly pull the patient's cheek tissue outward.
3. Begin scanning from the last molar to the anterior teeth, keeping the cheek tissue away from the scan area. To secure the scanning space, move your finger along the scanner tip.
4. Keep unnecessary tissues away from the scan area when scanning the buccal and lingual sides.
