Face Scan
- acquires the scan data comprising teeth, mouth, nose, etc.
❏ Command options
Start scan
- starts the scan process.
- Alternatively, you can use the function button on the device.
Stop scan
- stops the scan process.
- Alternatively, you can use the function button on the device.
Optimize
- aligns the acquired 3D scan data.
- The optimization process removes all noisy data from the acquired scan data.
Delete
- deletes all scan data acquired in or related to the current stage.
Face data alignment
- manually aligns selected scan data using matching points.
Import 3D face data
- imports face data from an external source.
Import 3D bone data
- imports 3D images taken by a CT scan.
- DICOM files are not compatible.
Undo
- Undo the previous action.
Redo
- Restores any actions that have been previously undone by undo.
How to use
1. Complete the face scan step by scanning the nose, mouth, and teeth.
⚠︎ Make sure the scanner light isn't shining in the patient's eyes.
2. Click the alignment icon to align scanned face and teeth data.
3. Select one of the following pairs of data by clicking the alignment button. It is suggested that the maxilla scan data be aligned with the facial scan data.
- Maxilla + face scan data (recommended)
- Mandible + face scan data
4. To align the scanned facial and tooth data, select corresponding locations on both. Use as many points as you think you'll need. One point is the minimal requirement.
5. After the alignment is complete, click Exit to return to the previous screen.
6. Click the Import 3D face data button, and import 3D face data.
- Supported file formats: OBJ, PLY, STL
7. Click the edit button to remove teeth data from the imported data.
8. Click "Import Bone Data" to import bone data.
- Supported file formats: OBJ, PLY, STL (Not supporting DICOM files)
9. Click the alignment icon, and select one of the following pairs of data for alignment.
- Face Scan - Teeth Scan
- Face Scan - Imported 3D Face
- Teeth Scan - Imported 3D Bone
10. Face scan data should be aligned with the imported 3D face data.
11. The maxilla scan data should be aligned with the imported 3D bone data.
12. Click Exit to return to the previous step after the alignment is complete.
13. Face data processed in exocad can be imported automatically.
