What can I do to improve my metal prosthetic scan when it is unsatisfactory even when the "Metal Scan" option is enabled?
Answer
Do the following before beginning the scan:
- Calibrate the scanner.
- Check to see if there are any bright external light sources (Dental Operatory Lights) that could interfere with the scan area; if so, adjust the light.
- Make sure the "Metal Scan" feature is turned on.
- Select "Reliability Map" as the "Model Display Mode."
Scan while using the "Reliability Map" to check the reliability of the acquired scan data in real-time. Scan the area from various angles for about 2 to 3 seconds to ensure that enough data is collected.
If the data in the metal prosthetic area is still insufficient, try the following alternatives.
- Press the "Optimize" button to properly align the acquired scan data, then scan again.
- Disable one or both of the "Smart Scan Filtering" and "Global Soft Tissue Filtering" options and rescan the metal prosthetic area. If enough scan data in the metal prosthetic area has been obtained in this way, re-enable the disabled function and scan the rest of the area.
