❏ Acquiring 3D data
You must have the following to run Medit Crown Fit:
- CAD data designed in exocad or 3Shape
- Prosthesis scan data
- Corresponding intraoral scan data
Here are the four ways to gather 3D data to use in Medit Crown Fit.
1. Scan in Medit Scan for Clinics or Medit Scan for Labs then, designing with exocad.
How to Obtain Prosthesis Scan Data for Use with Medit Crown Fit
When scanning with an intraoral scanner
When scanning with a tabletop scanner
- Set the form information to "Wax-up."
- Attach the crown to Blu Tack, and scan the exterior first.
- Next, scan the interior.
- Mark three dots in common areas, both exterior and interior.
- Align and optimize the data.
- Check the results in Medit Link's file viewer.
ℹ️ Tip
Even without CAD data, Crown Fit can be used if the margins are pre-drawn before placing an order for prosthetic work.
2. Add data to a Medit Link case.
- If you want to import 3D data that was gathered using a different method, the 3D data must first be attached to a case in Medit Link.
- Attach the designed CAD data and the DCM files of the prepared tooth scan data. Convert using the DCM Converter.
- You can directly attached milled prosthesis data.
💡 Even in this method, exocad and 3Shape CAD data should also be included.
3. Import exocad or 3Shape folder
- If you know the exact file name and location of the dental prosthesis scan data, designed CAD data, and prepared tooth scan data, import by selecting the folder. Select the folder and automatically import the files inside.
💡 Import milled dental prosthesis data via data attached to Medit Link or directly from your local PC.
💡 How to check the exocad folder location:
① Run exocad.
② Select the case you need.
③ Then, click "Open in explorer."
When the folder opens, you can check the location of the data.
💡 How to check 3Shape folder location:
① Run 3Shape.
② Select the case you need and then press ctrl + F4 on your keyboard.
When the folder opens, you can check the location of the data.
4. Import data saved to your local PC
- You can import an exocad/3Shape folder directly from your PC. If you know the exact file name and location of the dental prosthesis scan data, design CAD data, and prepared tooth scan data, import by selecting the folder. Select the folder and automatically import the files inside.
- If you aren't sure about the file name and location of the design CAD data, prepared tooth scan data, and constructionInfo, compress the entire file from exocad or 3Shape as a ZIP folder. You can directly import this ZIP folder without having to unzip it. Milled dental prosthesis data have to be selected separately.
