Scanning a post and core case is difficult to be scanned due to the deep and narrow area, however the scan data can be acquired by merging the scan data of gypsum model and the impression.
1. Create form information by entering tooth type, option, and notes, and then click Save & Scan.
- Since exocad doesn't have an option for post and core, you may select veneer, inlay, or onlay.
2. Complete the scan strategy setting, and click Confirm.
- Scan model type > model
- Maxilla > base
- Post & core > a tooth 15
3. Insert the maxilla model to the scanner, adjust the scan depth, and start scan.
- Set the scan depth adequately so that scan data contains less unnecessary areas, which saves the lead time of the merging process later on.
4. The base scan is complete.
- Check whether all scan images are acquired for necessary areas. If not, perform additional scan.
5. Scan the tooth 15.
6. Scan the mandible.

- Open the 3-axis arm connection slot and mount the 3-axis arm on the scanner.
9. Scanning the impression is complete.

10. Referring to the tooth number, which appear on the bottom-left, mark the tooth area on the scan data, and click Confirm.
11. Align the prepped tooth and the maxillary scan data by manual.
- 1 point or 3 points can be used for alignment.
